Zelensky proposed to develop its own system of "vaccination passports" in Ukraine

And will cover 70% of the adult population with vaccinations against COVID-19

The delivery of vaccines against COVID-19 and the possibility of introducing "vaccination passports" were discussed at the conference call on the prevention of the spread of the coronavirus disease, which was chaired by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi. This was reported in the Office of the President.

The head of state was interested in the question of increasing the number of points for vaccination of citizens, as well as plans for the supply of vaccines against the coronavirus, which Ukraine expects in the near future.

The Ministry of Health reported that more than 29 vaccination points should be operational from March 1200. It is also expected that in the near future Ukraine will receive 300 as part of the COVAX program. doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and 117 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Vaccination with the second dose will begin at the end of May, that is, 12 weeks after the first vaccination. It is according to this algorithm that the strongest immunity is formed.

At this time, negotiations on direct contracts for the purchase of vaccines are ongoing, which will allow to cover as many Ukrainians as possible with vaccinations.

In addition, at the meeting, Zelensky proposed to develop his system of "vaccination passports".

"These "passports" are already being developed by the countries of the European Union, the USA, Switzerland, and Israel - that is, by many developed countries that are actively working to create collective immunity against the coronavirus. We also need to develop our own system of appropriate "passporting", and in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease, it is necessary to cover 70% of the adult population with vaccinations against COVID-19," the president emphasized.

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov explained that the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Digital Affairs have been monitoring the quality of data in the register of vaccinated people from the very beginning. This will help display "vaccination passports" when necessary.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported at the meeting that currently there are 316 people in Ukraine. 777 active patients with COVID-19. According to this indicator, the city of Kyiv is in the first place, Odesa region is in the second place, and Lviv region is in the third place.
