On August 29, Head of State Volodymyr Zelensky honored the memory of the fighters who died for Ukraine. This was reported in the Office of the President.
On the Day of Remembrance of Defenders of Ukraine, who died in the struggle for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, Zelensky laid flowers at the Wall of Remembrance of those who fell for our country, located on Trekhsvyatitelskaya Street in Kyiv.
The head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak, head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmitry Razumkov and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal also took part in the memorial ceremony for the fallen defenders.
The Day of Remembrance of Defenders of Ukraine, who died in the struggle for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, was established in 2019 by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi's decree No. 621/2019. This decision was made with the aim of honoring the memory of all military personnel and participants of volunteer formations who died in the struggle for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state, perpetuating their heroism, and strengthening the patriotic spirit in society.
