The Odesa-Kyiv route is considered unusable

So says Ukravtodor.

The transport and operational characteristics of the M-05 Kyiv-Odessa international route have been exhausted. This was announced by the Acting Vice-Chancellor. Ukravtodor Yevgeny Kuzkin in response to the publication's request Hubs regarding the circumstances and consequences of the landslide, which a week ago caused the destruction of the carriageway of the Kyiv-Odessa highway near the village of Troitskoe.

"Due to the significant activity of motor vehicle traffic and the fact that more than 15 years have passed since the reconstruction of the specified road, the road's transport and operational characteristics have been exhausted," says Kuzkin.

The official added that the landslide occurred not on one, but on two sections of the road. One of them is located at kilometer 337 (right lane), a photo of which was published by the Road Service in the Odesa Region (SAD). The second — at 339 km (left lane, from the opposite side).

Kuzkin said that the officials of the Odessa SAD and the "Automagistral-Yug" company conducted a commission inspection of the emergency section of the road and found that "the destruction of the slopes of the ground surface on the indicated sections of the M-05 highway occurred as a result of intense precipitation during the last 3 months and overwetting of the soil".

The Hubs publication focuses on the assumption that the emergency site had a faulty drainage system. Due to this, destructive processes also began on the opposite side of the highway.

We would like to remind you that the work to eliminate the consequences of the landslide should have been completed by August 3.
