The lowest temperature in the country over the past 30 years, down to minus 6 degrees, was found in the Turaif district in the north of the kingdom. Low temperatures were also recorded in the northern regions of El-Kurayat and Arar. It is noted that the night frosts in Turaife were accompanied by heavy snowfall, in other northern regions - light rains and sleet.
According to the forecasts of the Center of Meteorology, abnormally cold weather will be observed in the north of the country until the end of the week. Soon, cooling is also expected in the central and eastern parts of the kingdom.
The lowest temperatures for decades were also recorded in Medina — 9 degrees, Mecca — 11 degrees and Riyadh — 16 degrees.
