In the occupied part of Donbass, Russia is recruiting people with Russian citizenship to man the peacekeeping units in Nagorno-Karabakh.
This was reported by Captain Yulia Shevchenko from the press center of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with reference to intelligence data.
"According to the information of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Russian-occupational administrations, by order of the Russian curators, are continuing activities to speed up the process of compulsory passporting of the population in the temporarily occupied territory in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," the message says.
It is noted that the presence of a Russian passport is a mandatory condition for military service in the formations.
"In addition, in the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the recruitment of persons with Russian citizenship is carried out in order to complete the so-called "peacekeeping" units to perform tasks in Nagorno-Karabakh. Also, the occupiers are considering the issue of introducing restrictions on civil rights for persons who have a passport of a citizen of Ukraine, with the granting of the status of "foreign citizen". In particular, it is assumed that their "voting right" will be left, the possibility to conclude civil-law transactions requiring notarization," Shevchenko summarized.
