President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Ukrainians to light a candle in memory of the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine at 16 p.m. on Saturday. He made such a proposal on the morning of November 28.
"Today, at 16 p.m. Kyiv time, we will all join the national minute of silence and light a memorial candle in our windows. Let these candles warm the souls of the dead with their warmth."
Zelensky reminded that on the last Saturday of November Ukraine celebrates the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holodomor.
"As a result of the Holodomor, which was recognized as genocide against our people by the totalitarian Stalinist regime, millions of Ukrainians became victims. These are losses comparable to those suffered by Ukraine in the Second World War.
How can you try to destroy an entire nation? Why and why? We will never be able to understand. We will never be able to forget this. We will never be able to forgive this," Zelensky said.
