The Prime Minister said that after 15 years, Ukraine will not be able to pay pensions

And he noted the need to introduce a accumulative pension system in the country

Ukraine will not be able to pay pensions to its citizens in 15 years, because the state will not have such resources. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during his speech to the students of the Lviv Polytechnic, reports the TV channel "112 Ukraine».

The head of the government noted that the reason for this may be the demographic situation in Ukraine, because the number of the working population is gradually decreasing.

"There will be few able-bodied people and many pensioners. The ratio will be 1/2. What does it mean? That taxes will have to be doubled in order for companies and you to be able to keep us, pensioners, at the current level. We will not be able to pay pensions to future pensioners in 15 years. This is ordinary mathematics," Shmyhal said.

He noted the need to introduce a cumulative pension system in addition to the existing joint pension system.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine offers to balance the solidarity pension system with an accumulative level: contributions to the future pension will be made not only by employers, but also by citizens.
