The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the second reading the law on the protection of children from sexual exploitation and sexual violence.
The law was supported by 322 people's deputies at the plenary session on Thursday, February 18.
Adoption of the relevant draft law No. 3055 "On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Violence (Lanzarote Convention)".
In particular, the draft law proposes to supplement Article 155 of the Criminal Code with the rule that committing acts of a sexual nature with a person under the age of 16 entails a restriction or deprivation of liberty for five years.
At the same time, the proposal to hold a meeting with the purpose of involving minors in the production of child pornography provides for imprisonment for a period of two to five years.
In addition, the draft law provides for the provision of punishment for knowingly obtaining access to child pornography, its production, sale or distribution.
Such offenses are punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to six months, as well as imprisonment or deprivation of liberty for a term of up to three years.
