The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is investigating the possible purchase by the Ministry of Health of the Chinese Sinovac coronavirus vaccine at an inflated price.

According to the council, on February 3 NABU began a pre-trial investigation into possible abuses in the purchase of a Chinese vaccine from the Sinovac Biotech company at $17,85 per dose with the help of a private intermediary firm.
"The published price of purchasing 1 dose of the vaccine was almost the highest in the world, and its "general effectiveness" during the last stage of testing in Brazil showed only 50,38%... Preliminary legal qualification: abuse of power or official position, resulting in serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the message said.
As a reminder, at the end of 2020, the state enterprise "Medical Procurement of Ukraine" concluded an agreement with the supplier PJSC "Lekhim" for the supply of 1,9 million doses of the Chinese coronavirus vaccine.
Vaccines were supposed to arrive in Ukraine in February, but according to preliminary data, deliveries may be delayed until April.
