Kyivites came to the Maidan and demanded a real reduction in housing and communal services tariffs

A protest action against the increase in tariffs for utility services is taking place on Independence Square in Kyiv

On the morning of Friday, January 15, a protest against the increase in tariffs for communal services "STOP Tariff Genocide" was held on the Independence Square in Kyiv, which was supported by the participants of the "SaveFOP" movement.

This is reported by "Strana.yua".

The action started at 10:00. By this time, about 50 people had already gathered on the central square of the capital. The protesters demand that President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the management of NJSC Naftogaz, NKREKP initiate a real reduction in gas tariffs and its distribution.

"The Cabinet of Ministers must cancel its resolution No. 1325 of December 28.12.2020, XNUMX, which increases the cost of electricity for the population," protest participants say.

The participants of the action are confident that the National Security Council must immediately consider and initiate the return of gas transportation and gas distribution networks to the ownership of local communities on their territory, which are now in the use of private joint-stock companies.

The leader of the "SaveFOP" movement, Sergey Dorotych, is confident that the increase in tariffs will lead to an increase in the cost of goods and services.

"I don't have enough pension to pay these tariffs. I receive UAH 2, and I received a utility bill of UAH 300. How come I don't go to protest actions," Tatiana Ivanovna, a pensioner, is indignant.

Let us remind you that the price of gas in Ukraine has been increasing since last year due to the transition to market prices, which is one of the key conditions of the IMF. At the beginning of 2021, tariff protests swept the country. After that, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced the introduction of state regulation of gas prices for the quarantine period. It will be sold for UAH 6,99.
