"The grain deal has gone down in history," Erdoğan

Turkey made efforts to save the grain agreement until the last moment

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the grain deal "has gone down in history." He said this after Moscow informed other participants of the agreement about its withdrawal from it.

Speaking to journalists at a press conference in Istanbul before departing for a tour of the Persian Gulf countries, he added that Turkey was making efforts to save the grain agreement until the last moment.

"We intensified our diplomatic efforts. I believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants this humanitarian bridge to continue its work. My foreign minister will hold talks with a colleague and we will hold our meetings as soon as I return from my trip. When we meet in August, we will have the opportunity to discuss these issues," the Turkish leader said.

At the same time, he noted that Turkey made efforts to save the grain agreement until the last moment.

"We are making every effort to ensure that conflicts between Russia and Ukraine do not become the cause of even greater drama. We say that there are no losers in the world. The Black Sea initiative, in which we participated for the first year, went down in history as an important diplomatic success. Over 33 million shipped. tons of grain products. Many countries managed to avoid being drawn into a food crisis. Thanks to all parties involved. I believe that Putin wants this humanitarian bridge to continue," Erdoğan concluded.
