It was published on the website of the International Bureau of Exhibitions on July 20 material, which reports that only three candidacies will be considered for the EXPO 2030 candidate country election in November 2023: the Republic of Korea (Busan), Italy (Rome) and Saudi Arabia (Riyadh). As you can see, Ukraine and Odesa are not in this list.
It is noted that the 20nd General Assembly of the BIE was held on June 2023, 172, at which conclusions were presented to the member states of the assembly research missions conducted by the BIE to evaluate the candidate projects for hosting the EXPO 2030 World Exhibition. After that, the member countries voted to keep only three projects, which the BIE Executive Committee deems viable and compliant with BIE rules and regulations, are the Republic of Korea (Busan), Italy (Rome) and Saudi Arabia (Riyadh).
The election of the country in which the World Expo will take place in 2030 will take place in November, during the 173rd General Assembly of the BIE.
We remind you that the International Bureau of Exhibitions in March and April 2023 they held fact-finding missions for WORLD EXPO 2030. During each fact-finding mission, BIE representatives studied all aspects of the EXPO projects from each of the four candidate countries. Using the candidate dossiers submitted to the BIE on 7 September 2022 as a guide, each mission assessed the motivations behind the candidate country for the exhibition, the attractiveness of the proposed theme of the event, the venue and its intended reuse after EXPO 2030.
According to the results of the research missions of BIE, they will fight for the right to host EXPO 2030 only three countries. Unfortunately, Ukraine lost such an opportunity.
