The press service of the British administration officially announced the provision of 6 underwater drones to Ukraine and is training Ukrainian personnel in Britain to use them to clear the coastline of mines.
Over the coming months, dozens of Ukrainian servicemen will be trained to use the autonomous mine-seeking vehicles of the Royal Navy and our American partners
The lightweight autonomous vehicle is designed for use in shallow coastal environments, effectively operating at depths of up to 100m to detect, locate and identify mines using a suite of sensors so that the Ukrainian Navy can destroy them.
The three-week training course will be conducted by the Royal Navy's Diving and Threat Exploitation Group in conjunction with the US 6th Fleet. With extensive experience using the equipment, they will conduct training at sea to operate the vessels and interpret the data they send back to identify mine layouts.
The Royal Navy is also training Ukrainian sailors to operate Sandown Minehunter class ships.
