Today in Ukraine is the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the Babyny Yar tragedy. Over the course of two days, September 29-30, 1941, the first mass shooting of the civilian population was carried out in Nazi-occupied Kyiv.
Representatives of the regional and city authorities, the Jewish community and the city's residents joined the commemorative ceremony held in Prokhorovsky Square in Odessa.
"Today is another anniversary of the terrible tragedy of Babyny Yar. Today it is repeated again, but by the hands of Russian fascists. Criminals who commit crimes against humanity will definitely be punished. And our country will definitely win," they said at the ceremony.
During the Second World War, Babyn Yar became the place where the Nazis shot more than 1941 Kyiv Jews in a few days in 30. And during the two years of occupation, the number of victims in the tract reached 100 people of various nationalities.
