"It is necessary to act now to bring to justice all those who started the war and to prevent any repetition of aggression. This will be the most effective defense of freedom, human rights, the rule of law and other values we share with you. He said this during the presentation of the European Parliament's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought to the brave people of Ukraine.
I am grateful to all leaders and states, to all politicians and international organizations who are working with us and making every possible effort to create a tribunal regarding the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The tribunal should start working. When any potential aggressor knows that punishment for a criminal war is inevitable, it will be the most effective tool for war prevention."
It was announced in October, the ceremony took place today. This year, Ukraine, its people and President Volodymyr Zelensky were the laureates of the European Parliament's "For Freedom of Thought" award.
