Whose missile hit Poland?

Two rockets fell in the Lublin Voivodeship, five kilometers from the border with Ukraine. People died as a result of the incident.

After the massive Russian attack on Ukraine on November 15, there was serious news from Poland. Local media reported that rockets fell in the villages of Przewodyv of Lublin production, killing two people.

After that there was a turn of statements from Poland, Russia, Ukraine and other European countries. Kyiv and the Baltic states immediately declared that the missiles were Russian and such a brutal response, Warsaw was more reserved or a request for consultation with allies. The USA and NATO, after a delay in demand, launched missiles from the territory of the Russian Federation.

In particular, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was blocked by the Alliance, who reported the missile attack while flying without fear of attacking from the country of the Russian Federation. According to him, most likely, the explosion was caused by a prototype missile of defense of Ukraine, which went off course.

"The investigation of the incident is ongoing and we have to wait for the results. But we don't have any signs that it was a false, deliberate attack," Stoltenberg said with confidence, adding that there is "no evidence that Russia" is preparing to take action in the unity of about 30 countries of the Alliance.

Nothing would have happened if not for the Russian Federation

At the same time, Stoltenberg stated that the incident occurred as a result of an armed attack by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

"This is not Ukraine's fault, Russia bears residual responsibility," he said.

The Secretary General added that NATO is ready to transfer applications or air defense on the shield, including Poland, at a moment's notice. According to Stoltenberg, individual systems can be industrial and marine based.

He emphasized that the Alliance is not a partial conflict in Ukraine.

"NATO and its allies support Ukraine if it can exercise its rights to self-defense... Our main priority is to provide Ukraine with even more air defense systems," added the Secretary General.

The US will investigate

US President Joe Biden flew in on Wednesday, calling an emergency meeting with the first leaders of the G-7 and nations on the occasion of what happened in Poland. In his speech after the meeting, he called it "unlikely" that the missile fell in Poland, was launched from the Russian Federation, but promised to support Poland in the investigation.

To a clarifying question from journalists that the missile was launched from Russia, Biden said that this is preliminary information, as a demand for it.

"According to the lines of the trajectory, it is unlikely that it was launched from Russia, but we will see," said the American president.

Poland does not suspect a deliberate attack

Warsaw believes that the explosion in Poland was caused by the fall of a Ukrainian rocket.

"The president is not saying that it was a deliberate attack on Poland," Andriy Duda said, adding that it was a Russian-made S-300 payload missile.

"There are many indications that it was an air defense missile of Ukraine, as, for example, damage fell on Polish territory," he noted.

The Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, claimed that the missile that entered the territory of the country was of Soviet production and was in service with the Air Defense Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, screenwriters cannot be elected and are linked by a provocation from the Kremlin, if the Poles quarrel with Ukraine.

Macron called for caution in galvanizing

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron urged caution amid the unknown and said it was too early to understand what had happened. Speaking at a press conference in Indonesia on the way through the G-20 summit, the French leader said he was "using analysis now".

"Preliminary work has been done, the results of which have been shared by the US, and we must remain cautious," Macron said.

According to him, he was in contact with Polish authorities and spoke with President Volodymyr Zelensky to confirm solidarity after a series of massive Russian strikes on Ukraine on November 15.

Kyivskyi put the responsibility on the Russian Federation

After the information appeared that the missile was launched from the territory of Ukraine, the adviser to the head of the president's office, Mykhailo Podolyak, clarified the situation. He put the responsibility for what happened on Russia.

"Only the sky of Russia is responsible for the war in Ukraine and massive missile strikes. Only Russia is behind the soon-to-increase risks for the border countries. There is no need to look for excuses and postpone key decisions," the speaker said.

Moscow praised Biden.

The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmytro Peskov, commenting on the reaction of Western countries to the incidents in Poland, saying that "the Poles had all possible means to immediately inform that it was about the debris of the S-300 missile, that it could not be a missile that has relation to the Russian armed forces".

Peskov even praised Biden's reaction: "In this case, there is a sense of the beast to the restrained and more measured reaction of the American side and the American president."
