A new commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been appointed: there is a decree of Zelensky

Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk will now command the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This position was held by Oleksandr Syrsky before his appointed the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces.

Decree on the appointment of Pavlyuk (No. 69) signed President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

"To appoint Lieutenant General Pavlyuk Oleksandr Oleksiyovych as the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine", — the document says.

Oleksandr Pavlyuk — was born on August 20, 1970 in the city of Zviagel, Zhytomyr region. From 2021 to 2022, he held the position of commander of the Operation of the United Forces, which lasted in part of Donbas. In 2022, he received the title of Hero of Ukraine.

In March 2022, Pavlyuk was appointed head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, and he was entrusted with organizing the defense of the capital of Ukraine. In May of the same year, he was removed from this position.

From May 2022 to February 2023, Pavlyuk was the deputy commander of the Ground Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi. And from February 2023 to February 10, 2024, he held the position of the first deputy of the then head of the Ministry of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov.
