On Tuesday, August 29, it became known that in 2024, South Korea plans to provide financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 520 billion won (about 394 million dollars). This is reported Reuters.
In particular, the future aid package includes: 130 billion won ($100 million) for reconstruction; 260 billion (about $200 million) for humanitarian aid. In addition, Seoul plans to allocate 130 billion won ($100 million) to international organizations.
In July, President Yoon Suk-yeol announced that his country would provide Ukraine with "large-scale military supplies" this year, without giving further details.
Yoon also announced an increase in official aid to South Korea for the development of strategic areas, including the Asia-Pacific region and Africa, from 1,4 trillion won to 2 trillion won ($1,51 billion).
The country's Ministry of Economy and Finance explained that the increase in overseas aid is part of measures to help South Korean companies expand overseas and protect national interests such as supply chains, as well as take responsibility as a key member of the global community.
