Harley Davidson has returned to India three years after closing its branch there: the local factory Hero MotoCorp is starting to produce the X440 bike under the American brand at a very attractive price.
The motorcycle will be manufactured under a license purchased from Harley Davidson, with the brand name preserved in the nameplate and body lettering. While we are talking about filling the domestic market, which seemed to wake up with the appearance of this model and even raised Hero shares by 3%.
Pre-orders for the X4 announced on July 440 had to be stopped: in a month, the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters received 25 orders for the Harley Davidson X597. According to the production plan, the production of this bike will begin in September, and the first deliveries to customers are expected in October.
The current price tag for all pre-ordered Harley 400cc single-cylinder scrambler-style motorcycles stands at $2890 for the base model and $3370 for the top-of-the-line trim.
According to Hero MotoCorp, the Indian-made American motorcycle will not be delivered to the US market, as well as to others, and the export version of the bike is still under consideration.
