On Tuesday, October 10, on the eve of the meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, the German Ministry of Defense announced a "winter package" of military aid to Kyiv in the total amount of about 1 billion euros, reports broker departments.
The new German aid package primarily includes air defenses, including the previously reported additional Patriot and IRIS-T systems. The term of their dispatch to Ukraine is not specified.
The package will also include 10 Leopard 1A5 tanks, three additional Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns, twenty medevacs and 15 armored vehicles, which will be in Ukraine "in the next few weeks."
"With this new 'winter package', we are further strengthening the operational readiness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the coming months," German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius commented.
The Ministry of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany also specifies that during October, Ukraine will receive the previously promised air defense systems - the third IRIS-T SLM (medium range) and the second IRIS-T SLS (short range).
