The war of Ukraine against Russia at sea has two goals, namely, to prevent the Russian fleet from attacking and to ensure the access of ships to Ukrainian ports. Vice-Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa emphasized that Ukraine would have won the war faster if it had received permission to use British and other Western weapons to attack Russian territory. About it in the interview Sky News said the Commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa.
"We must have opportunities to make sure that Russia will forever abandon even the idea of looking in the direction of Ukraine, including at sea," — he said.
The commander noted that Ukraine's successes in 2022 and 2023 were the result of complex but innovative decisions. But given the length of the war, previous methods may no longer work.
"The enemy adapts and we must adapt. Modern warfare is a war of technology. Whoever wins in the technological sense will win." — added Neizhpapa.
The commander of the Naval Forces is sure that Ukraine would have won the war faster if it could fire British weapons at Russia.
The journalist asked Neizhpapa whether Ukraine would be able to win the war faster if it received the West's permission to strike deep into Russia with their weapons, the commander replied: "Of course, the sooner the Armed Forces have the necessary combat capabilities and certain capabilities to destroy the enemy's infrastructure, the sooner we will win."
He is sure that if Ukraine had such a right, the war "would have unfolded differently."
"If Ukraine had certain types of long-range weapons that can be used deeper in the enemy's territory, of course, the enemy would behave differently, including on the battlefield." - added the vice admiral.
