The head of the Luhansk regional military administration, Serhii Gaidai, may be appointed ambassador to Kazakhstan. The Russians are actively opposing the appointment of Gaidai as ambassador to Kazakhstan.
After the occupiers captured a large part of the Luhansk region, they decided to transfer the head of the OVA to a place where his experience would be needed. Kazakhstan is an important country for the development of relations because it has oil, gas, weapons and is profitable from the point of view of investment.
Serhii Gaidai himself noted that he is ready to work wherever the President directs him.
"As a team person, I will work where the President directs me. Especially during the war," said the official.
According to the media, the main candidate for the post of the head of the Luhansk OVA is currently a People's Deputy Maxim Tkachenko, who was born and grew up in Luhansk. He is the deputy head of the "Servant of the People" parliamentary faction, and according to sources, it is Davyd Arahamiya who is promoting him to the position of head of the OVA.
Until 2014, Maksym Tkachenko managed the "Master Show" company, which organized artist tours. After the start of the invasion in 2014, he moved to Kyiv and became a co-owner of Kvartal-concert LLC. He headed Zelenskyi's team in the 2019 elections in the Luhansk region.
Recall that that after the recall of Ambassador Petro Vrublevskyi, the Embassy of Ukraine in Kazakhstan works without the first person. In November, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aibek Smadiyarov, stated on this occasion: "The candidacy of the new ambassador is under consideration by our authorities. There are no specific terms."
Before Vrublovskyi, the ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Kazakhstan was Ivan Kuleba, an experienced diplomat and the father of the current head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba.
