The FBI seized 11 sets of classified documents during a search of Trump's estate, The Wall Street Journal

The publication writes that FBI agents took about 20 boxes of belongings, folders of photos, a handwritten note and a pardon for Trump ally Roger Stone.

It is reported that the list of found items also included documents marked "top secret" and information about French President Emmanuel Macron.

“They could get it anytime they want, and that includes a long time ago. All they had to do was ask," Trump said in a statement released Friday.

Mr. Trump's lawyers say the former president used his authority to declassify the materials before he left office. Although the president has the authority to declassify documents, there are federal rules that outline the process for doing so.

The ex-president of the United States, Donald Trump, faces imprisonment if the FBI investigators, who searched his estate in Florida, prove that he violated the espionage law. The publication writes about it Politico, referring to the information contained in the search warrant.

"The warrant shows that federal law enforcement agencies investigated Trump's case for deleting or destroying records, obstruction of justice and violations of the Espionage Act, which can cover crimes beyond espionage, such as refusing to turn over national security documents upon request. Conviction under the law can lead to prison terms or fines," the newspaper reports.
