This winter may be even more difficult - Podoliak

What should Ukrainians prepare for this heating season

Ukraine has already experienced an extremely difficult winter, during which Russia tried to completely immerse us in cold and darkness. The next one may not be easy either.

Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the President's Office, answering the question whether the coming winter will be harder than the previous one, answered that the state of the Ukrainian energy system is now much worse than last year.
He stated this in an interview 24 channel.

According to Podoliak, the "starting positions" of Ukraine this winter will be much worse than last year, because then the energy system was complete and balanced, and also worked stably for decades.

He noted that the situation is complicated by the fact that Russia removed the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP from the energy system, which is a "huge amount of megawatts."

In addition, the aggressor country delivered major blows to the trunk network.

According to him, various methods of additional protection of critical infrastructure, in particular mobile protection, are being developed. We are talking, for example, about anti-aircraft machine guns.

Podolyak says that Ukraine suffered damage in transformers, which are difficult to find on the world market.

Podolyak noted that it is still too early to hide generators and power banks, as all these things can help survive during the war.

"I don't think it's necessary to hide everything that allows us to survive during the war until the war is over. Everything should be kept at hand. This is very important," said Podolyak.

He noted that any amount of time Ukraine would need to "bring this war to an end" would be "of the same type."

"Russia will absolutely disregard international law and will strike at the civilian population. For Russia, the most important thing today is not to win the war on the battlefield, it cannot do that... In Russia, the most important thing today is to cause maximum harm to the civilian population," Podolyak emphasized.
