On the far side of the Moon, the Chinese Yutu-2 lunar rover photographed a mysterious square-shaped object. This was reported by the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA).
In the diary of the Yutu-2 mission, it is indicated that on the 36th lunar day (approximately equal to the Earth's month), the lunar rover fixed an unusual object in the shape of a cube to the north of itself at a distance of about 80 meters.
The mission management showed great interest in the find: Yutu-2 is expected to approach the object for a more detailed inspection within the next two or three lunar days.
"Yutu-2" is the second Chinese rover sent to the Earth's satellite as part of the Chinese space program "Changye", and the world's first rover on the opposite, "dark" side of the Moon. He has been working on the Moon since January 3, 2019, during which time he traveled about 186 kilometers through the Von Kármán crater.
Let us remind you that the plot of Stanley Kubrick's classic film "2001 Space Odyssey" (1968) and Arthur Clarke's novel of the same name begins with the discovery of the Black Monolith, an artificial cube-shaped object left there by a highly developed civilization, on the far side of the Moon.
