Are you sure that your Internet password is reliable? Or maybe you have the only one for all social networks, mail, or any other application? If yes, then you have something to think about, because in Ukraine, most passwords are cracked by hackers in a couple of seconds. Such data are contained in the annual report published by the company Nord Security, which analyzed the database of 50 countries of the world.
Andrey Voronov, the leader of the e-sports community, commented on the situation in Ukraine in the field of cyber security to the ElitExpert agency.
"Many people believe that it is better to come up with one universal password that will be simple, remember it and then always use it. But the fact is that fraudsters who want to get access to your money also reason in the same way," the expert noted.
In Ukraine, the most used password is "qwerty". These are the so-called first English letters from the upper left corner of the keyboard. Ego was used about 400 times this year.
Passwords-names also lead the "black list". The most numerous of them are: nikita, marina, andrey, sergey, natasha, oksana, etc. The names of companies such as Samsung, Mercedes, Adidas, Panasonic are also often found. Users and names of favorite celebrities are used: rammstein, eminem, ronaldo, etc. To protect yourself from cyber fraudsters, experts recommend using two-factor authentication. That is, tie your password to a phone number or email.
"In addition to entering your login and password, you will receive an SMS confirmation on your phone, which you also need to enter additionally. In this case, fraudsters will not be able to gain access," Andrey Voronov explained.
Also, the cyberexpert advises to personalize your password, but so that it is not associated with your birthday, information about which is publicly available.
"You have a lot of memorable, important things that only you know about. If you encrypt your password in this way, even your relatives and friends will not know it. To do this, it is enough to come up with some word or association and some set of numbers that is personally connected with you," advises Voronov.
Another piece of advice from a cyber expert is to have a separate bank card for online payments.
"It is best if you have a special bank card for online payment. It can be virtual, not physical. You know that there is, for example, UAH 100 on this card, and if you want to pay for something, you just put additional money on it and make the payment," says the expert.
