Turkey supports the continuation of the Grain Initiative. This was stated by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov after a meeting with the Minister of Defense of Turkey Hulusi Akar at the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul.
"The focus of the negotiations is the implementation of the "Grain Initiative" and its continuation after November 22, 2022," the ministry said.
The participating parties of the "Initiative" — the UN, Turkey, and Ukraine — expressed their readiness to continue its operation and assured that they would make maximum efforts for its successful implementation. At the moment, there is no doubt that the work of the "grain corridor" will be continued after November 22.
The Ministry of Infrastructure recalls that 1,1 million tons of food were sent to Africa during the entire period of operation of the initiative.
5 vessels chartered by the UN World Food Program have already left the ports of Great Odesa. They have more than 120 grains on board for the residents of Ethiopia, Yemen and Somalia," the agency added.
It will be recalled that on July 22 in Istanbul, the UN, Ukraine, Turkey and the Russian Federation signed the Initiative on the safe transportation of grain and food products from the Ukrainian ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdenny. The term of validity is calculated until November 22, 2022.
