In the south of China, the world's first vaccine against COVID-19, which is administered by inhalation, was presented. They began to test it in the spring of this year.
According to Chinese scientists, the vaccine stimulates immunity through the mucous membrane of a person, which is impossible to achieve when vaccination is done "traditionally" through the shoulder.
The Ad5-nCoV vaccine was developed by CanSino Biologics. It is inhaled through the mouth, and then through the respiratory tract of a person, the drug enters the lungs to stimulate the immunity of the mucous membrane, which cannot be created by intramuscular injections.
In addition, according to the results of clinical trials of a Chinese company, the inhaled vaccine does not cause immune reactions that have serious and harmful side effects for humans.
The advantage of this drug is also that it is easier to store and transport. As the researchers note, it is necessary to vaccinate Ad5-nCoV with smaller doses than with injectable drugs.
At the moment, the drug is only in the early stages of clinical trials, but it has already been approved in China, Pakistan and Mexico in the form of single-dose injections.
Now the "air vaccine" continues to be tested. A similar vaccine against tuberculosis has already passed its successful test.
