They want to build a mini-factory for the production of liquid oxygen in Odessa. This was announced by Mayor Gennady Trukhanov at a session of the Odessa City Council.
He noted that the need for oxygen, compared to the previous wave of the coronavirus disease, when the maximum need per day was 6 tons, has increased many times, which no one could have predicted. And he added that it's time for Odessa to get rid of its dependence on suppliers — and for that it needs to start its own production of liquid oxygen.
"Odessa City Council needs to radically solve the problem of the city's dependence on medical oxygen suppliers for hospitals. We need to build our own mini-factory for the production of oxygen in order to reliably meet the needs of the medical institution," Trukhanov noted.
The mayor instructed his deputies Sergey Tetyukhin and Mikhail Kuchuk "to submit proposals for the construction of a mini-plant for the production of liquid oxygen for medical needs, as well as for the immediate purchase of a storage tank in the city for at least 35 tons of medical oxygen."
Note that now the garden receives oxygen in two ways. The first one is oxygen stations installed on the territory of city hospitals. Now they are in the 1st, 5th and 10th hospitals, in a few days they will be launched in the 3rd children's ward and by the end of November - in the 8th and infectious hospitals. But all in all, they will be able to produce only 6-7 tons of oxygen per day.
Second, they buy oxygen from companies that produce it. At the same time, two of the three key oxygen suppliers are located 300 and 700 kilometers from Odessa.
