Reuters: Chinese vaccine deliveries to Ukraine may be delayed until April

Deliveries of the coronavirus vaccine from the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech to Ukraine may be delayed.

Deliveries of the coronavirus vaccine from the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech to Ukraine may be delayed.

It is reported British news agency Reuters with reference to the letter of the company "Lekhim", which concluded an agreement on the supply of this vaccine.

In a letter dated February 3, it is written that the importer asked the government of Ukraine to allow the transfer of deliveries to April due to the late decision of China, which approved the vaccine, and the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of a special law on the registration of vaccines.

"The consequences of these events were the delay in agreeing the delivery schedule between OJSC Lekhim and Sinovac Biotech and the postponement of the delivery of the vaccine to Ukraine," the letter says.

In addition, it says that "Lekhim" is asking to change the method of determining the effectiveness of the vaccine. According to the contract, an efficiency of at least 70% is required for deliveries.

Recall that Ukraine has agreed to purchase 1,9 million doses of the Chinese coronavirus vaccine. According to the head of the Ministry of Health Maksym Stepanov, the first batch of it should be delivered to Ukraine in February
