The Minister of Health, Viktor Lyashko, said that 10 million vaccinations against the coronavirus were not carried out over the summer, as he had promised before taking office, due to the large number of holidays in Ukraine.
He told about this at a meeting with journalists on the occasion of 100 days in office.
"When I entered the post of Minister of Health, I promised that the priority would be vaccination against Covid. So that Ukrainians could be vaccinated, travel and work. In principle, I fulfilled this promise.
If it weren't for these holidays and the Ukrainian "after the holidays", we would easily reach 10 million by the end of the summer. Now it is possible that this figure will be delayed in a week. We have 8,8 million vaccinations, but we understand that there are still 4 days ahead, one of which is a working Saturday. And, let it be in September, but there will be 10 million injections. There is a vaccine," he said.
In total, during the entire vaccination campaign, more than 5,2 million people in Ukraine received the first dose of vaccination, and 3,5 million received the second dose.
