With the current ratio of sick and hospitalized patients, a full lockdown in Ukraine can be introduced on the condition that 30 thousand new patients with COVID-19 per day.
Health Minister Maksym Stepanov Stepanov said this on the air of one of the TV channels.
Stepanov said that a complete quarantine in the country will be demanded during the lockdown of the medical system in particular. Therefore, it can happen in Ukraine when the number of new patients with COVID-19 will reach 30 thousand in a few days.
"If there is a threat of a complete shutdown of the medical system, we will insist that a stricter quarantine should be introduced. For us, the main thing is the number of people who are hospitalized. If we are talking about the percentage of patients entering the hospital, I think that it (a shutdown of the medical system will occur) is already about 30 per day in a certain period, then this can cause serious problems with the load on the medical system," the minister said.
Earlier, Stepanov said that a strict quarantine is possible if up to 20 cases of coronavirus infection are recorded in Ukraine every day, and the occupancy of beds, including those in mobile hospitals, will be 100%.
At the same time, on October 22, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that a total lockdown would have to be introduced if the number of new patients per day reached 15. Thus, this number is constantly moving.
