The Minister of Culture of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko promised that he would make the Odessa Art Museum National by the end of this year.
"Granting the status of "National" to the Odessa Art Museum is not a matter of one day. There are legislative requirements, according to which it is impossible to do this at one time. We are working on it and, having joined forces with the OGA, we expect to achieve the goal by the end of 2021," he said.
According to him, the museum deserves this high status in memory of its director Alexander Roitburd, as well as because it "preserved and increased the cultural heritage, actively popularized Ukrainian and world art, introduced modern art and made a large number of people fall in love with culture."
Recall that the director of the museum, Alexander Roitburd, died on August 8, 2021.
