Ukrainians may be left without salaries and pensions

If the EU stops financing Ukraine within the framework of the promised €9 billion, Ukrainians may be left without salaries and pensions.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal made such a statement in an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine. He emphasized that Ukraine needs help now:

"We need it in order for our financial system to survive. Whether it becomes a loan or a grant is less important. We have already exhausted all possibilities of savings."

Today, the defense budget accounts for 60 percent of our public expenditure, and we use the financial assistance of our partners to a large extent for the social needs of the people and reconstruction. Any delay can have dire consequences."
