At a meeting on Wednesday, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted the resolution "On Amendments to the Procedure for Granting Special Subsoil Use Permits", which granted Naftogaz Ukrainy JSC the right to explore and produce oil and gas on the Black Sea shelf without holding an auction.
"This decision will allow us to increase our own production of natural gas, create jobs, and fill both the local and state budgets of Ukraine. The main thing is that the company will be able to start the development of the shelf immediately after the adoption of the regulatory act and the passage of the procedure," said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Roman Abramovsky at the meeting.
JSC "Naftogaz Ukrainy" is the only company in Ukraine that has many years of experience in the development of offshore gas fields. The company has the necessary financial resources to carry out 3D-seismic research and is ready to promptly start exploration work on the shelf," the comparative table to the draft resolution says.
According to various estimates, the forecast and prospective resources of the Black Sea shelf amount to about 1-2 trillion. cube. m of gas and more than 1 trillion tons of oil with gas condensate, which can provide Ukraine with additional production of 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas per hour.
