The ex-mayor of Yekaterinburg, Yevhen Roizman, who opposed Russia's war in Ukraine, was arrested

Today, August 24, Yevhen Roizman was detained in the case of discrediting the Russian army (Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation): "We know everything about our country. Nothing new. The case was initiated for the phrase: invasion of Ukraine. I have said it everywhere and I will say it now," Roizman said during his arrest.

Evgeny Roizman, served as the mayor of Yekaterinburg in 2013-2018, was a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation in 2003-2007.

"The war with Ukraine, terrible, senseless and incompetent - the most despicable, shameful and unjust war in the history of Russia", "And at the Last Judgment I will not give up my words" - Roizman was fined 50 thousand rubles for anti-war statements.

Currently, the Russian media reports that several business cards of foreign diplomats were found in Roizman's apartment, including the former head of the SBU, Ihor Smeshko. Roizman faces up to 10 years in prison. Previously, he politically supported Navalny and Khodorkovsky. He participated in protest actions and communicated with foreign diplomats.
