The Verkhovna Rada approved amendments to the Tax Code and increased the tax-free cost of international shipments (for individuals) from 100 to 150 euros.
The document concerns the threshold of taxation of goods bought by Ukrainians in foreign online stores. Now, as before 2019, there will be no need to pay duties when ordering up to 150 euros. Now this limit is 100 euros.
If the value of the goods in the parcel is from 150 to 1000 euros, the recipient must pay an import duty of 10% of the amount exceeding 150 euros and VAT.
The parliament noted that the previously established limit of 100 euros "led to a rapid reduction in the amount sent to Ukraine, a decrease in the income of international postal and express carriers, and the activation of "grey" schemes for importing goods across the border."
In addition, the previous decision caused longer processing of parcels.
The law will enter into force the day after it is signed by the president.
