The draft law provides for specific sanctions against Russian officials

A group of American senators from the Democratic and Republican parties submitted to the US Congress a bill providing for the introduction of sanctions against officials from Russia "for malicious activity."

A statement about this was published on the website of Republican Marco Rubio.

"The bill provides targeted sanctions against Russian officials involved in flagrant violations of international law, including the poisoning and imprisonment of opposition leader and anti-corruption activist Alexei Navalny," Rubio's website noted.

The draft law provides for sanctions against people involved in the poisoning of Navalny, as well as the use of chemical weapons from the Novichok group on the territory of Russia. In addition, the authors of the project demand the release of Navalny and other political prisoners, the preparation of a report on the murder of Boris Nemtsov and a report "on the personal wealth of Vladimir Putin and his family", as well as calling on Germany to withdraw its support for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
