NASA will launch the most expensive telescope in human history into space

For $10 billion.

The James Webb space telescope is the largest and most expensive in history. Its weight is 6,2 tons, and its total cost is $10 billion. On December 25, between 14:20 p.m. and 14:52 p.m. Ukrainian time, it will be sent into space. The launch will take place at the Kourou Cosmodrome in French Guiana.

James Webb will become the main infrared space observatory, which will complement and expand the discoveries of the Hubble telescope, which has been in orbit for more than 30 years.

James Webb is able to see objects located at a distance of up to 13.5 billion light years.

He is able to look into dust clouds, where stars and planetary systems are now forming, examine the smallest details of objects and record his observations - with their help in the future, changes in the sky will be tracked.

As astronomers hope, the telescope will help to learn the history of the Universe - from the Big Bang to the moment of the formation of the planets.

The space observatory will study star formation and the formation of planetary systems, study clusters of stars and galaxies, distant quasars and the atmospheres of exoplanets - heavenly bodies outside the Solar System.

It should be noted that the launch of this newest observatory was constantly postponed due to various technical problems.
