In the city of Rovaniemi (Finland), the European Weightlifting Championship among juniors (up to 20 years old) and youth (up to 23 years old) is taking place. Ukraine has already won 12 gold medals at it. This was reported by the Weightlifting Federation of Ukraine.
During this time, there was not a single day when Ukrainian athletes did not climb the podium.
"We have demonstrated a very good start to this championship. This is the result of hard and persistent work of athletes and coaches. And, of course, all this would not have been possible without the support of the Federation and patrons. All these years, they consistently support Ukrainian weightlifters, provide financial support to the strongest athletes. This is a big contribution to the development of Ukrainian sports!" commented the head coach of the Ukrainian women's weightlifting team, Yury Kuchynov.
A total of 30 athletes from Ukraine are competing: 15 at the junior level and 15 at the youth level. In the first half of the Championship, Ukrainians managed to win as many as 24 medals.
According to the results, the competitive women's team of Ukraine is in first place in the overall standings. Ukrainian women have 23 medals: 12 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze.
The men's team, which has just entered the competition, has already received 7 medals: 2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze.
