Odesa tennis player Elina Svitolina won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. In the match for the third place, the Ukrainian won a strong-willed victory over Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan.
The tennis player from Kazakhstan easily won the first set with a score of 6:1.
In the second set, everything again went to an easy victory for Rybakina, but Svitolina still rallied and with a score of 1:3 broke the course of the match.
Elina was able to equalize the score and take a 5:4 lead, but Rybakina did not give up and took the set to a tiebreak. However, in the shortened game, Svitolina still won and took the game to the third set.
The third set followed a similar scenario - Rybakina broke away in the score, but then Elina won back in an incredible way - 4:4.
After that, Rybakina became nervous, and Svitolina, on the contrary, gained additional confidence and won the match! As a result, Svitolina won the first ever Olympic medal for Ukraine in tennis.
