From today, Ukrainian consumers and traders will have to change their habits - you will no longer pack goods in a thin polyethylene bag. In Ukraine, a law has entered into force prohibiting the distribution of ultra-thin and thin plastic bags in retail trade, the general public and the service sector.
We are talking about packages with a wall thickness of more than 50 micrometers. It is in them that buyers usually store purchased goods (they can withstand a weight of more than 7 kg).
It is expected. that the minimum retail prices for plastic bags will be: UAH 2,00 — without handles (without side folds); UAH 2,50 — without handles (with side folds); with handles (without side folds); UAH 3,00 — with handles (with side folds). The money for their sale will be used for the disposal of this product.
At the same time, as of December 10, balls are still free in the Odessa supermarket chain "Tavriya-V", and in "ATB" their cost was 9 kopecks per ball.
Instead of plastic bags, they recommend using reusable mesh bags, which cost up to UAH 40.
At the first stage, the ban concerns the distribution of thin and ultra-thin plastic bags in supermarkets, pharmacies, and catering establishments.
The distribution of plastic bags will be punished with a fine of 1700 to 3400 hryvnias. A fine of 3400 to 8500 hryvnias will be charged for repeated violations.
The requirements of the law do not yet apply to biodegradable plastic bags and ultra-thin plastic bags intended for packaging fresh fish, meat, and bulk products. They can be distributed in retail outlets as primary packaging until January 1, 2023.
