Two men dressed in police uniforms broke into the residence of a deputy candidate in the Sumy region, shot him and injured his wife.
This was reported in the press service of the GUNP in the Sumy region.
"Yesterday, around 20:00 p.m., the police received a report that two unknown persons broke into the home of a 48-year-old resident of Krolevets and inflicted a gunshot wound on him and bodily injuries to his wife," the report says.
According to the law enforcement officers, two unknown persons, dressed in police uniforms, knocked on the door of a candidate for deputy of the Krolevets city council, motivating their visit as the fulfillment of official duties.
Only a person opened the door, uninvited guests broke into the house. Threatening the owner and his wife with a pistol and a knife, they demanded money and valuables.
The spouses resisted and raised a noise that was heard by the neighbors. It was they who informed the law enforcement officers about the attack. The policemen who promptly arrived at the call detained one of the attackers. His accomplice broke free and ran away.
Now both victims are in the hospital.
The police opened a criminal proceeding based on Part 4 of Art. 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Robbery attack", within which the search for the fugitive is conducted and all the circumstances of the incident are established.
