Odesa "Infoksvodokanal" as part of the Investment Program is renovating and upgrading equipment at many of its facilities. This was reported in the press service of the "Infoksvodokanal" branch.
In particular, active work is being carried out at the Dniester station, sewage treatment plants, and worn-out pipelines throughout the city are being replaced.
Along with this, large-scale works are underway to update the main sewage pumping station. Employees of the water utility are changing the pressure sewer collector in the area of the irrigation fields. Instead of the old pipe, which has reached its operational limit, almost 1000 meters of new fiberglass pipe with a diameter of 1200 mm are being laid.
The company's specialists note that the service life of fiberglass pipes will be much higher than that of steel pipes. The fact is that household waste from the greater part of Odessa is pumped through these collectors to the biological treatment station "Severnaya". The wastewater itself, in addition to the aggressive environment, has abrasive particles that contribute to the rapid destruction of the bottom of the pipeline, which is fraught with emergency situations and its damage. There is no such thing in fiberglass, it is more resistant to both aggressive drains and mechanical impact.
"Infoksvodokanal" plans to complete the work by the end of this year, and next year to replace another kilometer of the second reserve collector with modern fiberglass.
The main sewage pumping station is expected to be completely renovated, because in addition to the pipelines, the pumping equipment will be replaced. To do this, the company's specialists have already purchased European energy-efficient pumps "Grundfos", the installation of which will begin in the near future. In addition, the power supply lines and the transformer substation have recently been completely replaced at this station.
For your information, the main sewage pumping station is one of the most important sewer arteries of the water channel. The pumping station is connected by pressure collectors to the "Severnaya" biological treatment station and pumps about 70% of sewage from the entire city there for subsequent treatment. About 140 cubic meters of wastewater pass through it per day.
