The first solar power plant installed on the roof of a multi-storey building in Odessa is already producing results

For residents, the benefit is obvious - they will receive 25% of the profit from the generated electricity

In Odessa, solar panels were installed on the roof of an apartment building on Kapitan Kuznetsova Street, 114. The work was carried out within the framework of the "Solar City" project, which was launched in early 2020 with the assistance of the Odessa City Hall. This was reported by the press service of the mayor.

The implementation of the project is carried out at the expense of attracted funds of companies that have the appropriate license.

"It's not news that solar energy is collected all over the world, there are "green tariffs" according to which the collected electricity enters the network. About 41 MW of electricity has already been collected on the roof of the house on Kapitan Kuznetsov - in monetary terms - almost 280 thousand hryvnias. In Odessa, in general, tariffs are among the lowest in Ukraine. In this house, the tariff is 4 hryvnias 50 kopecks, but in those houses that are under the management of UC "Suvorovsky" the average tariff is 3 hryvnias 31 kopecks and it is the lowest for the city," said the mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov.

Solar batteries are intended exclusively for the generation of electric current, which will be sent to the electric network according to the "green tariff".

"For residents, the benefit is obvious - they will receive a repaired roof and will subsequently receive 25% of the profit from the generated electricity. According to preliminary estimates, this is 80-90 thousand hryvnias per hour per house. Tenants will be able to spend these funds on improvement and repair of their own home," added Trukhanov.

The mayor also noted the advantages for the city - attracting funds for the repair of the housing stock and reducing the consumption of electricity produced by traditional methods.

"204 solar panels are installed on the roof. The total capacity of the station is 56 kilowatts per hour. Taking into account the repair of the roof, the final price was 56 thousand dollars. We expect 60 MW of energy per hour from just one power plant, and this one has already managed to generate 48 MW. And such a station will pay for itself in a maximum of seven years," noted Vitaly Popovych, director of the Suvorovsky University of Technology.

It is worth noting that this is the first solar power plant installed on the roof of an apartment building as part of the "Solar City" project. Equipment for the installation of eleven such stations has already been purchased with extrabudgetary funds.

At the moment, work is being carried out on capital and current repairs of the roofs of three houses, on which solar power plants will be installed in the near future.
