The head of the "Servant of the People" party, Alexander Korniyenko, promised to expel deputy Igor Vasylkovsky from the faction if the court finds him guilty of driving a car while intoxicated. He said this during a meeting with journalists on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, reports informs Censor.net on Tuesday, 29 June.
"We have no untouchables, we have already demonstrated this. If his guilt is proven, he will leave the faction," Kornienko said.
Let us remind you that on the night of June 28, Odessa mass media reported that a patrol police crew stopped a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by Igor Vasylkovsky, an Odessa People's Deputy from "Servant of the People" for violating traffic rules.
During the examination, he "had impaired motor coordination, and the pupils did not react to light," the publication reports. He refused to undergo a test or an examination at a medical institution.
Administrative materials were drawn up for the People's Deputies to submit to the court. Vasylkovsky's driver's license was confiscated and a temporary ticket was issued pending a court decision.
The deputy himself stated that his car was indeed stopped, but he passed the alcohol test and provided the relevant certificate. At the same time, the "Dumskaya" edition notes that the People's Deputy passed the alcohol test only twelve hours after the administrative protocol was drawn up.
Igor Vasylkovsky became a people's deputy in 2019, having won the elections in the single-mandate electoral district No. 139 of the Odesa region.
