As part of the large-scale investment program for modernization of networks and equipment, "Infoksvodokanal" completed the reconstruction of chlorinator No. 8 at the Dniester water treatment plant.
River water goes through a long stage of purification, which ends with disinfection in chlorinators. It is here that various bacteria and microorganisms are destroyed, after which already clean drinking water is supplied to Odessa, where it is additionally disinfected with harmless sodium hypochlorite at city water pumping stations.
Specialists worked for about 5 months to carry out a complete reconstruction of chlorinator No. 8. In addition to the repair of premises, replacement of communications and pipelines, "Infoksvodokanal" purchased and installed modern expensive equipment for water disinfection - chlorinators of the European manufacturer "GRUNDFOS".
The new equipment is characterized by increased reliability and safety, while allowing for better and more accurate decontamination. Thanks to this, the quality of drinking water will also improve.
Earlier, similar European equipment for water disinfection was also installed in chlorinator No. 7. In addition, at the end of 2020, the Dniester station underwent a complete reconstruction of the laboratory and installed modern Japanese equipment.
Igor Lysenko, director of the Infoxvodokanal branch, emphasized that the company prefers modern equipment from world manufacturers, without skimping on quality, safety and energy efficiency.
"All this is done primarily for our consumers. This is a huge responsibility, because more than a million residents of Odessa and the suburbs drink our water, so we strive to meet European standards," noted Igor Lysenko.
