According to the mass media, in the near future the prosecutor's office of the Odesa region will be headed by Igor Protsenko, who was recently elected to the Odesa city council from the "Trust Things" party. The order appointing Protsenko was signed by the head of the Prosecutor General's Office, Iryna Venediktova. It is known that Protsenko has already submitted his mandate as a deputy of the city council, and his place was taken by the chief physician of maternity hospital No. 1 Iryna Holovatyuk-Yuzefpolskaya.

Biography

Igor Protsenko was already a prosecutor of the Odesa region in 2010-2011. - during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych. Then, from December 2011 to October 2013, he was the prosecutor of the Zhytomyr Region. After that, in October-November 2013, he held the position of the first deputy head of the Main Office for Supervision of Law Enforcement in the Execution of Court Decisions in Criminal Proceedings and other coercive measures related to deprivation of liberty of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine. From November 2013 to October 2014 — deputy prosecutor of the Kyiv region. Therefore, formally it falls under the lustration law.

In 2018, Protsenko resurfaced in the public space — he was appointed head of the Council of Public Control at the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine.

Scandals

According to the mass media, in 2003, as an investigator for particularly important cases of the prosecutor's office of the city of Makeivka, Donetsk region, Protsenko detained and sent to a detention center a pensioner of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mikhail Khaladzha. This happened after he gave an interview to an opposition publication, in which he told about large-scale land frauds perpetrated by the first vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Gennady Vasiliev (a week after Haladzha's arrest, he became the general prosecutor), and the brothers Renat and Rafael Kuzminy (they were deputies prosecutor of the Donetsk region and Vasiliev's assistants, respectively).

In 2009, Protsenko's apartment was robbed. The prosecutor himself estimated the total value of the stolen property at $109,5 thousand. and 79 thousand hryvnia In particular, eight men's premium class watches were stolen from him (Breguet Marine II Automatic Big Date — $13, IWS Portotino — $6, IWS: Spittire Chronograph — $4, Parmigiani — $6, Chronoswiss Tourbilon — $15 thousand, Paul Picot — $4,5 thousand, Polex Submariner — $5 thousand, Longines — $1 thousand and women's Harry Winston for $35 thousand), branded handbags and belts, sheepskin coats and fur coats, video cameras, a Vertu phone and even a bullion gold In the protocol of the victim's interrogation, Protsenko, in addition to everything else, recalls his car, which he left in the parking lot near the house. But at the same time, in the declaration for 2010, the prosecutor forgot to indicate not only this car, but also his apartments, as well as money in bank accounts. Meanwhile, it is obvious that one prosecutor's salary cannot buy something similar.

At the moment, political Telegram channels call Protsenko a protégé of Boris Kaufman, a well-known Odessa businessman, who was dubbed the "new beneficiary of the Odessa City Council" in the mass media. They also write that the position cost the millionaire 5 million dollars, and the issue was solved, allegedly, through the assistant of the president, Sergei Shefir.

Besides, if you believe TG channels, the appointment of Protsenko is now in question. Allegedly, due to the fact that information about the "cost of the issue" was leaked, a meeting should be held in the President's Office. According to other information, the appointment of Protsenko affected the interests of other major political players.
