In Kharkov, the public farewell ceremony for the city mayor Gennady Kernes ended.
The farewell was held in the hall of the Kharkiv National Theater of Opera and Ballet in the center of the city. The ceremony lasted about 5 hours. The event had to be continued longer than it was on time, as many thousands of people came to Khnatob who wanted to say goodbye to Kernes.
People brought a huge amount of fresh flowers. During the entire ceremony, a special car several times took flowers from Khnatob to the Kharkiv city cemetery No. 2, where the mayor will be buried on the avenue of honorary citizens.
The coffin was carried out of Khnatob by Kernes guards who worked with the mayor for several years. Many of the participants of the ceremony applauded Kernes.
Let us remind you that the authorities of Kharkiv are going to install a monument to the late mayor of Kharkiv, Gennady Kernes, on one of the city's highways. In addition, there are plans to name a street after him and one of the subway stations.
