Two fires in one day: high-rise buildings burned in Odessa

Two fires broke out in multi-storey buildings in Odessa. This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service in the Odesa region.

One of the fires broke out on Ak. Glushko Avenue, 6. There, an apartment on the sixth floor of a nine-story building was on fire. A 70-year-old housewife was evacuated from there. She received first aid right in the yard. Hospitalization was not required.

Due to the abundance of acrid smoke, the residents of the upper floors were blocked. They had to climb through the windows into neighboring apartments. Two people and two animals were saved with the help of a car ladder. Seven people were evacuated from the upper floors. The cause of the fire is still unknown. 7 rescuers worked at the site.

Another fire broke out on Yitzhak Rabin street around ten o'clock in the evening. During the extinguishing of the fire, the employees of the State Emergency Service rescued the 70-year-old owner of the apartment and her 48-year-old neighbor. Both women were poisoned by combustion products. They were taken to the hospital in a moderate condition.

Rescuers evacuated another 7 people from the upper floors. Because of the heavy smoke, they had to work in devices to protect the respiratory and vision organs.

Specialists of the gas and smoke protection service also joined the rescue operation.

The cause of the emergency and the damage are established. 22 firefighters with 6 units of equipment took part in extinguishing the fire.
